Operatives of the Ewekoro Division of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a hostel robbery in Ewekoro, arresting two suspected robbers and recovering 11 assorted iPhones, an HP laptop and other stolen belongings.
The incident occurred at about 2:40am on September 13, 2026, after the police received an anonymous distress call that an armed gang was attacking students at a hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of the community.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer were immediately deployed to the scene following the distress call.

Babaseyi said the suspects fled after sighting the approaching police team and abandoned a school bag containing the stolen items.
The operatives reportedly gave chase and arrested two suspects identified as Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun.
A search of the abandoned bag reportedly led to the recovery of 11 assorted iPhones, one HP laptop and various items of clothing.
The police said some of the robbery victims have already identified the recovered properties as their belongings.
Preliminary police investigations also revealed that the armed gang allegedly forced one of the victims to transfer ₦200,000 into an account during the robbery.
Detectives have visited the scene and documented evidence of forced entry, while the recovered exhibits have been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police said search warrants executed at the residences of the two suspects did not produce additional incriminating items.
The two suspects and recovered property are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, police operatives are continuing efforts to apprehend other members of the gang who escaped from the scene.
The Command is also working to identify and locate the owner of the beneficiary account into which the alleged ₦200,000 transfer was made.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Ewekoro operatives for their vigilance and rapid response to the distress call.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting students, residents and communities across Ogun State from criminal activities.
He urged operators of off-campus student hostels and landlords to keep emergency contact numbers readily available and report suspicious activities or security threats without delay.
