Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has supported hundreds of widows and widowers across the 10 wards of Ibarapa East Local Government Area with food items, clothing and cash gifts in remembrance of his late mother, Chief Mrs. Justina Iyabode Ogundoyin.
The humanitarian outreach, held on Saturday at the Ori-Oke residence of the Ogundoyin family, was organised to provide assistance to vulnerable residents and sustain the humanitarian legacy of the late Mrs. Ogundoyin.
According to the Speaker, the initiative was a continuation of a support programme established by his late mother, who devoted much of her time to the welfare of widows and less-privileged members of society.
Ogundoyin said he considered it a responsibility to preserve his mother’s tradition of compassion and generosity, ensuring that her commitment to helping vulnerable people continued to benefit residents of Ibarapa East.
He explained that the distribution of food items, clothes and cash was designed not only to ease the beneficiaries’ economic challenges but also to demonstrate love, care and solidarity.
The Speaker noted that widows and widowers often face significant family and financial responsibilities, making continued community support important.
Leaders Commend Ogundoyin’s Humanitarian Outreach
The programme attracted political and community leaders, including leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibarapa East, as well as other notable personalities.
Among those present was the South-West Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANT), Chief Mrs. Odunayo Danjuma, a close friend of the late Chief Mrs. Justina Iyabode Ogundoyin.
Danjuma commended the Speaker for sustaining his late mother’s humanitarian legacy, noting that the gesture reflected the enduring importance of compassion, generosity and concern for the welfare of others.
She described the initiative as a worthy continuation of the humanitarian tradition associated with the late Mrs. Ogundoyin and urged other well-meaning individuals to support vulnerable people in their communities, particularly those struggling to meet their daily needs.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Tafa Aishat, Mrs. Akinlade Funmilayo, Pa. Atilola Ezekiel and Mrs. Obatola Ibiyosi, expressed appreciation to the Speaker for the support.

The outreach formed part of the Speaker’s efforts to sustain his late mother’s humanitarian work and extend support to vulnerable residents across Ibarapa East.
