The Oyo City Boy Movement has reaffirmed its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning political groups against claiming affiliation with the party while promoting candidates of opposition parties.
The Director of the movement in Oyo State, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, stated this in a statement issued on Monday, stressing that the group’s allegiance to the APC and its candidates remained total and unwavering.
Onireti said the movement would support APC candidates at all levels, including the presidential, governorship and other elective positions, insisting that its loyalty would not be selective.
“We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” he said.
Onireti Condemns Selective Political Allegiance
The Oyo City Boy Movement director expressed concern over the activities of some political groups that claim to belong to the APC but openly promote candidates of other political parties.
He described the practice as inconsistent with genuine party loyalty, arguing that political affiliation should be reflected in consistent support for the party’s candidates.
“Political loyalty must be consistent. You cannot claim to be committed to the APC while simultaneously promoting candidates of other political parties based on personal interests or political calculations. Such actions raise serious questions about the sincerity of your allegiance to the party,” Onireti stated.
He reiterated that the movement would not participate in any arrangement that undermines the APC or supports opposition candidates under the guise of representing the ruling party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC. Our loyalty is to the party, and our support extends to all its candidates,” he added.
Oyo City Boy Movement Appreciates Members, APC Leaders
Meanwhile, Onireti expressed appreciation to participants at the inaugural event of the Oyo City Boy Movement held last week.
He specifically acknowledged the presence and support of the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and the state Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Adekemi Opatunde.
He also commended the movement’s executives and members across the various zones of the state for their dedication and contributions to the success of the event.
The movement urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those it described as having divided allegiance.
It also called on all APC-affiliated groups to uphold consistency, discipline and unity in their political activities.
Onireti’s remarks underscore the movement’s position that groups claiming APC affiliation should demonstrate their commitment by supporting the party and its candidates across all elective positions.
