Ahead of the 2027 general elections, leaders of opposition parties in the country have organised a national summit.
The summit is centred on curbing the ruling All Progressives Congress’ effort to make the country a one-party state.
Those at the summit include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; former Senate President and Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
Also in attendance were Jerry Gana; former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saminu Turaki; and political economist Pat Utomi, among others.
The gathering, which drew a formidable array of political figures from across Nigeria, was held on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
It is currently underway and underscores growing efforts to foster unity across party lines.
The summit also indicated that discussions are focused on pressing national issues, evolving political alignments, and strategic preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
