Oyo FOMWAN Observes Special Juma’at Service To Mark 40th Anniversary As Scholar Calls For More Responsibilities ‎

An Islamic scholar, Alhaji Abdulwahab Asipa, has charged the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Oyo State chapter, not to relent in its contributions to the progress of Muslim youths, especially women.

‎Alhaji Asipa, who is the Vice Principal of Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, gave the charge on Friday during a special Juma’at Service held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the association in the state.

‎The Juma’at Service marked the 5th day of the week-long celebration.

‎Speaking on how best society should groom the younger generation, the cleric called for more responsibilities from FOMWAN in sensitizing women in the state on the need to pay attention to the upbringing and movement of their children.

‎He noted that many of the challenges facing society were as a result of parents neglecting their primary responsibility.

‎”The best thing is, number one, the mothers should be prayerful and hardworking. The cause of this issue is that parents are no longer there for their children. Some parents are after money, leaving home by 6:00 a.m., dropping the children at the school gate by 6:30, and coming back late at night. The children would have slept. The youth of nowadays have no trainers. That’s why I told them here, these people are trying, but yet they must put in more effort because things are going wrong. And the reason is that parents are lagging behind in their real duty to tutor and mentor their children,” he said.

‎Alhaji Asipa commended the Oyo State chapter of FOMWAN for keeping to the ideals of the association by propagating the cause of Islam through the promotion of Muslim women.

‎”My message for FOMWAN is, number one, to appreciate Allah for what He has done for them. He has done a lot for them, to start something 40 years ago and still maintain it, vibrant, growing, and contributing to the progress of Muslim youth, especially womenfolk. They have done well. They should appreciate Allah.

‎”Number two, they should continue doing what they are doing. They should not see themselves as something. They should not deviate. They should not derail. And the third one is, they should have patience with whatever they are doing, so that they will end well. And finally, I said to them, they must obey their husbands. You know they are women. Because they should not say, ‘We are doing something good.’ That should not enter their heads and make them rude to their husbands at home. In Islam, a husband is a husband. That is my message for them.”

‎The Juma’at Service was part of activities lined up for the 40th anniversary celebration of FOMWAN in Oyo State.
