Oyo APC Primary: Correct Errors, Injustice To Restore Confidence- Adelabu Tells APC National Chairman

‎Former Minister of Power and gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has urged the National Leadership of the party, to correct the errors recorded in the party’s nomination process in Oyo State, saying mere acknowledgement of injustice will not restore confidence.

‎Adelabu disclosed this on Wednesday while meeting with party leaders and representatives from the 33 Local Government Areas and 351 wards of Oyo State.

He said that the absence of transparent declaration of primary results has generated serious concerns about the credibility of the process.

‎The Minister noted that while the party has entered names on the INEC portal as APC candidates for 2027, the actual votes scored by aspirants at ward and LG levels were never formally published. He said this affected nominations for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly seats.

‎Adelabu disclosed that despite having documentary, collation and video evidence, he has decided not to pursue an appeal or legal action “in the interest of peace, party stability and the larger future of the APC in Oyo State.”

‎He added that the National Chairman, during his recent visit to Oyo, admitted that there were errors, unfairness and injustice in aspects of the primaries.

‎“We believe that an acknowledgement or apology, though important, cannot and should not substitute for the necessary correction where the opportunity to address the grievances still exists,” Adelabu said.

‎The Minister stressed that reconciliation cannot be achieved by asking aggrieved members to “simply accept and move on” without addressing the root issues.

He urged the party to initiate a comprehensive and credible reconciliation that engages all stakeholders and demonstrates that justice and fairness remain the foundation of APC’s democratic processes.

‎Adelabu also appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful and loyal, warning against anti-party activities.

‎“We are closing this particular contest, but we are not conceding the injustice. We are choosing the path of peace without surrendering the principles of fairness, transparency and democratic justice,” he stated.

‎He reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, adding that his aspiration to serve as Oyo Governor was not a do-or-die affair.
