President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign will officially kick off in Kaduna on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

Yari disclosed this on Friday evening after briefing the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on preparations for the 2027 presidential election campaign.

He said Tinubu had requested an update on the council’s progress and discussions on the proposed timetable for campaign visits across the country.

According to Yari, the campaign council’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, ahead of the official flag-off in Kaduna on October 24.

“By God’s grace, his team, I, and Mr President himself, we have agreed on how it’s going to be done,” Yari told State House correspondents.

He added that the council had submitted its proposed campaign schedule to the President, who had approved the planned state visits.

“We have put forward a proposal. The inaugural meeting of the campaign council is going to be done on the 14th of this month. That’s next Wednesday at the State House Banquet Hall, and by God’s grace, on the 24th of October, we’re going to do our flag-off campaign in Kaduna, inshallah,” he said.

Yari stated that the APC campaign would move to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after the Kaduna rally, followed by Maiduguri, Borno State.

He said the complete campaign timetable would be made public after the inauguration of the council.

“We have the timetable, and we are going to make it available after the inauguration. But this has all been understood and approved by the team of Mr President and I,” Yari added.

APC Unveils Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Campaign Plans

The planned Kaduna rally marks the scheduled launch of the APC’s nationwide campaign for Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Tinubu appointed Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on August 22, 2026, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary.

The President will chair the campaign council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen.

The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities and state visits as the ruling party prepares to present its record in government to voters.

Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Campaign: Yari Defends President Chances

Speaking on the political challenges facing the President, Yari expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances, citing what he described as the President’s political reach across northern and southern Nigeria.

He referenced Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, arguing that no presidential candidate could secure victory without significant support across both regions.

Yari also made claims about Tinubu’s past political support for the two opposition figures, using the examples to advance his argument about political alliances and electoral prospects.

“We are talking of the President of the country, and this President, who, by God’s grace, Almighty God used him to support Atiku some time back, and at the same time to support Peter Obi,” he said.

He added: “So if Allah uses me to support you, there is no way Allah will use you to bring me down.”

Yari further argued that a candidate’s support base must extend beyond one region to secure the presidency.

He cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s previous electoral contests as part of his argument, contrasting Buhari’s regional support with what he described as Tinubu’s broader political presence.

Yari claimed that Tinubu controlled more than 10 states in the South and more than 10 in the North, describing the figures as a conservative estimate.

He also defended the administration’s performance, arguing that the government had made progress on the economy and other national issues.

“So I think we have done enough that we can tell our opponents about what we did. We are not promising. We are doing it, and we are going to continue,” Abdulaziz Yari said.

The claims about state-level political control and the administration’s performance were Yari’s assessments and were not independently established by the remarks themselves.

INEC Fixes January 16 for 2027 Presidential Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.

Under the commission’s timetable, election campaigns are permitted from August 19, 2026, until January 15, 2027, the day before the scheduled elections.

The electoral body has said 18 candidates are in the presidential race.

Among the opposition contenders mentioned in the report are Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, who is contesting under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

With the Kaduna flag-off scheduled for October 24, the APC is preparing to intensify its nationwide mobilisation and present Tinubu’s record in office as it seeks another presidential mandate in 2027.
