The son of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Abba Atiku Abubakar, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His decision, according to him, is to mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Abba Abubakar was received by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, and the National Vice Chairman of the APC, North East, Mustafa Salihu, on Thursday in Abuja.
The former Vice President’s son also renamed his political group to Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation.
Meanwhile, in a swift reaction to the development, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that the decision of his son, Abba Abubakar, to join the APC is entirely personal.
He said that such a decision is not the first in politics, and would not be the last.
”In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.
”As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians.
”What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.
”I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress,” Atiku said.
