The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has suspended the on going Chairmanship and Councillorship Elections in Ido Local Government Area of the state .

The suspension was due to the omission of the Zenith Labour Party logo on the ballot paper.

OYSIEC Chairman Barr. Isiaka Olagunju (SAN) made the disclosure on Saturday while addressing the press shortly after the assessment of the on going election exercise at various polling centres.

Olagunju expressed disappointment for the low turned out of the people, saying that it is not the best for democracy.

He decried violence erupted in some areas despite awareness and sensitisation embarked n by the Commission.

It will be recalled that the OYSIEC boss, Barr. Olagunju has assured all candidates of equal opportunity.

According to him, “I am urging you all to go out and cast your votes for your preferred candidates without any fear of harassment, embarrassment or intimidated by any security operatives. The Commission will discharge its official duty without fear or favour of any candidate.”
