Following the directive by the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, Justice Munta Abimbola, has constituted a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations levelled against the Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan.
The CJ constituted the panel on Thursday, after the court struck the suit initiated by Olaniyan to stop the impeachment process.
Members of the seven-man panel are Chief Kayode Christopher (Chairman), Arc Adebisi Soyombo, Chief Lawal Adekunle Dauda and Princess Olanike Olusegun.
Others include Rev Fr. Patrick Ademola, Chief Mrs. Wuraola Adepoju (JP), and Alhaji Tirimisiyu Akewusola Badmus.
While inaugurating the panel, Justice Abimbola, described the inaugurated members as people of unquestionable integrity, emphasizing that none of the members belongs to public service, legislative house or political parties.
He urged them to carry out the responsibility with fear of God and act in accordance with their conscience.
The panel will investigate the allegations against the Deputy Governor as provided under Section 188(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This is in pursuant to the resolution of the House of Assembly requesting the Chief Judge to constitute a panel by the virtue of power conferred on him by Section 188 (5) of the 1999 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
