Veteran Nigerian singer and cultural activist, John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has mourned the death of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing him as a great and humble human being.
In a tribute shared on Sunday, Daddy Showkey expressed shock and sadness over the passing of the screen legend, saying his death has created a vacuum in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The Galala music pioneer recalled the moment he first heard about Ogogo’s demise, noting that he initially dismissed it as rumour before the sad reality set in days later.
“We will never forget you because you are a great and humble human being. A True Legend is gone. When I heard he passed on the first time I called Honorable Muka Ray Eyiwumi, it was a rumour. Never knew in a few days time you will truly leave us. All I will say is rest well, Great Man,” Daddy Showkey said.
He described Ogogo as more than an actor, but a mentor and role model who used his platform to promote Yoruba culture, discipline and professionalism in Nollywood.
Daddy Showkey prayed that Almighty Allah grants the late actor Aljanah Firdaus and gives his family, colleagues and fans the strength to bear the loss.
Taiwo Hassan Ogogo was one of the most respected faces in Yoruba cinema, celebrated for his iconic roles and decades of contribution to the growth of the industry.
