Contrary to the media propaganda by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) that customers are going to enjoy uninterrupted power supply especially during the Salah holiday, it is seems there is going to be more days of darkness for the people under the distribution company.
This was as a result of total system collapse of the national grid which is affecting many distribution companies including IBEDC.
Vanguard, gathered that the system collapse occurred following voltage collapse at some parts of the national grid.
The development was confirmed by the TCN General Manager, Ndidi Mbah, who disclosed that there was a total system collapse of the grid, as a result of voltage collapse at some parts of the grid.
Meanwhile, with this revelation, it is obvious that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) does not have any plan or arrangement in place to back its ‘empty’ assurance of ensuring that people enjoy uninterrupted power supply.
Every avenue should have been exhausted to prepare for a case of emergency like this before embarking on media propaganda, assuring the people of what you are not capable of.
It has been a long day of darkness in major areas in the capital city of Oyo State and beyond because IBEDC has failed to live up to its words. The truth of the matter is that IBEDC can not even say how longer the suffering will last.
However, the TCN General Manager disclosed that grid recovery efforts have commenced immediately after the collapse, from Shiroro Generating Station to Katampe TS, Abuja through the Shiroro – Katampe line at 11:29 am, and also through Delta Generating Station to Benin Transmission Substation and has reached Osogbo and parts of Lagos.
