The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abass Adigun the winner of the House of Representatives seat in Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency.
INEC made the declaration after the results of the supplementary election held on Saturday was announced.
According to INEC, Hon. Abass Adigun of PDP polled a total number of 28,111 to defeat the son of the late governor of the state, Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 27,338.
Declaring the winner, Professor Benjamin Olley of the University of Ibadan, declared Hon. Abass Agboworin, having satisfied the requirements of the law was returned elected.
With the outcome of the election, this will be the second time consecutively that Hon. Abass Adigun will be defeating Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina in the race to the Green Chamber in the constituency.
Dapo Lam, who been contesting for the House of Representatives seat in the constituency since 2011 was dislodged in 2019 when he contested under the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC).
