
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled the governorship and states’ House of assemblies elections to March 18, 2023.
The rescheduled is bid to hold on March 11, 2023, however, extended by one week.
A Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), who disclosed this to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity confirmed the development.
The reason for the postponement might be connected to the Appeal Court ruling to allow the Commission to configure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
INEC, today secured the court order to allow it configure the BVAS machines in order to enable the Commission to use them for the conduct of the governorship and House of Assemblies elections.
It will be recalled that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi had sought an order from the court to restrain the Commission from tampering with the information in the BVAS machines until due inspection is conducted and certified true copies (CTC) of them issued
