
There are strong indications that the alleged consensus candidature planned to be adopted by the state Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde will further deepen the crisis within the ruling party .
Rising from an emergency meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State today, Aspirants for various elective positions in Ibadan South West Local Government have agreed to elect representatives of the party in the 2023 general election through primaries and not the proposed consensus arrangement proposed to be adopted by the state governor.
The meeting according to our reporter indicated that all the aspirants were part of the meeting except the incumbent, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi and Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, who thought they were the preferred candidates adopted by the governor.
The aspirants who claimed to be long term members of the party however called on Engr. Seyi Makinde to shelve his proposed choice of consensus candidate particularly in Ibadan South West and work in the interest of the majority so that the party will not lose its credibility
