The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has officially commenced its campaign ahead of the2027 elections with the commissioning of its Makinde/Daura campaign headquarters in Abuja.
The party declared that its campaign to “reset Nigeria” had begun as it rallied support for the presidential ticket of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his running mate, Lawal Daura.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, APM National Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Dantalle, described the Makinde/Daura ticket as an alternative to what he called Nigeria’s “perilous course.”
2027 Elections: APM Says Makinde/Daura Ticket Offers New Direction
Dantalle said the significant turnout at the event demonstrated what he described as Nigerians’ desire for a new political direction based on competence, courage, compassion and accountability.
He described the newly commissioned campaign headquarters as the “engine room” of the party’s campaign and anticipated victory in the 2027 elections.
According to the APM chairman, the party has also fielded candidates across the country as it prepares to contest the forthcoming elections.
Dantalle said the Makinde/Daura ticket would provide Nigerians with what he described as improved governance, stronger national security, economic prosperity and socio-religious harmony.
“Rest assured that Makinde will be President to all Nigerians as he has ably demonstrated as Governor of Oyo State,” he said.
2027 Elections: APM Highlights Daura’s Security Experience
The APM chairman also highlighted the security credentials of Lawal Daura, who previously headed the Department of State Services (DSS).
Dantalle argued that Daura’s experience in leading a key security institution would strengthen the ticket’s capacity to tackle insecurity if elected in the 2027 elections.
“With a competent vice presidential candidate, Daura, who once headed a critical security service in the country, insecurity will be tackled head-on,” he said.
The party said its proposed approach to national security would focus on confronting insecurity directly while pursuing a broader agenda for national development.
2027 Elections: APM Promises Issue-Based Campaign
Dantalle pledged that the APM would conduct an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, focusing on practical solutions, competence and the future of Nigeria.
He said the party would avoid what he described as politics of bitterness, division and hatred.
“This is our chance to build a strong, stable, united, prosperous, inclusive and just democratic society,” Dantalle said.
The APM chairman subsequently called on Nigerians to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
2027 Elections: APM Cites Bauchi Poll Results
Dantalle also pointed to the APM’s reported performance in local government elections in Bauchi State as an indication of the party’s growing political prospects.
He described the party’s reported victory across all local government areas in the state as a “powerful signal” ahead of the national polls.
The APM maintained that its Makinde/Daura presidential ticket offers Nigerians an alternative political platform as parties and candidates prepare for the 2027 elections.
