Veteran actor, Prince Jide Kosoko has disclosed that the family of ailing Nollywood veteran actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has received over 500 offers of assistance following news of the actor’s cancer diagnosis.
In a post on his Facebook page, Prince Kosoko thanked fans, colleagues, and well-wishers across the globe for their prayers, messages, and offers of spiritual, medical, and other forms of support.
“We have seen and received many of your messages, prayers, encouragement, and offers of assistance, and we want to say a very big thank you to you all,” the post read.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has volunteered to assist us spiritually, medically, and in every other way possible.”
The veteran movie director and producer noted that many people reached out claiming to have spiritual help, treatment options, or other remedies they believe could help the veteran actor who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
The family, however, appealed to the public to understand the challenges of moving Ogogo from the hospital at this stage of his treatment.
“Please, do not feel offended or disappointed if we are unable to bring Ogogo to you for spiritual assistance or treatment,” Kosoko said.
“It is extremely difficult to move him from the hospital to different locations at this stage of his treatment, especially considering the large number of people who have offered to help.
“We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500 people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him. The challenge is simply: Where do we take him to? And how do we move him from the hospital while he is receiving care?”
Kosoko emphasized that the family’s inability to accept every offer does not mean they are ungrateful.
“Please understand that our inability to bring him to anyone does not mean that we do not appreciate you, nor does it mean that we doubt your intentions or your desire to help. On the contrary, we are deeply touched by the overwhelming love and concern that people across the world have shown towards him,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to continue praying for Ogogo’s recovery.
“We humbly appeal to everyone not to stop praying for Ogogo. Please, continue to pray with us. We believe strongly that, with your prayers, our prayers, and the mercy of Almighty God, Taye will come out of this situation successfully. There is nothing impossible before Almighty God.”
