Skit Maker, Kamo State Debunks Fallout Rumour With Funke Akindele

Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has said his relationship with Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is stronger than ever.

Kamo dismissed rumours of a fallout between him and the award-winning actress, stating that they remain close despite not being seen together as often as before.

The comedian made the clarification during an interview with BBC Yoruba. He explained that their reduced public appearances are due to increasingly demanding schedules.

According to him, both he and the award-winning filmmaker have become busier with their respective careers, making it difficult to spend as much time together as they once did.

“We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not as free as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also be booked for more projects,” he said.

Kamo also appealed to fans and social media users to stop spreading false narratives about their relationship.

“There is no fight. Don’t let people paint what doesn’t exist,” he added.

Narrating how their relationship began, Kamo said he had admired Akindele long before meeting her, describing the actress as one of his biggest inspirations.

“Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me. I love her very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa.

“I lost the key to the handcuffs we used on set, and she showed concern about the incident. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy,” he said.

He revealed that Akindele’s confidence in his talent and dedication paved the way for several collaborations on her productions, including Aiyetoro Town and Behind the Scene.

According to him, the actress was impressed by his work ethic, which strengthened their professional relationship over time.
