Preparations are in top gear for the 5th Edition of the WAL-BOG Motors Football Competition, with organisers announcing that the grassroots tournament will officially kick off in the first week of September 2026.

Since its inception, the annual competition has grown into one of the leading grassroots sporting events in Oyo State. It has earned a reputation for discovering and nurturing young football talents while promoting sportsmanship, unity, and youth development through sports.

Speaking on this year’s edition, the financier of the tournament and Chief Executive Officer of WAL-BOG Motors, Olawale Ogunkeyede, said the competition would be the biggest and most exciting since its launch.

According to Ogunkeyede, the organisers are expanding the scope of the event to accommodate more sporting disciplines, with boxing and other recreational activities added to the programme.

He explained that the initiative is aimed at encouraging broader youth participation, identifying talents across different sports, and celebrating excellence beyond football.

“This year’s edition promises to be our most elaborate yet. Beyond the football competition, participants and spectators can look forward to boxing contests and other sporting activities designed to engage more young people and foster a stronger culture of sportsmanship,” he said.

In what promises to be a landmark occasion, the grand finale of the tournament will coincide with the official commissioning of the newly constructed WAL-BOG Auto Plaza in the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan.

The dual celebration is expected to attract sports enthusiasts, community leaders, business stakeholders, and dignitaries from across Oyo State and beyond.

Organisers expressed confidence that the 5th Edition of the WAL-BOG Motors Football Competition would further strengthen its legacy as a premier grassroots sports development initiative, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
