
As part of measures to curb the rate of insecurity in Ibarapa axis of Oyo State, the Speaker of the state’s assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has donated motorcycles to the police and other local security operatives across the three local governments in the town.
This, the Speaker said, is in line with his promise to ensure safety of lives and property of the people. Hon. Ogundoyin said equipping security operatives with motorcycles will go a long way in enhancing their mobility.

While presenting the 15 motorcycles to the police and community leaders at Sanngo Police Station in Eruwa, the Speaker disclosed that no huge amount of money spent on education, agriculture or economy will manifest without adequate security measures in place.
He commended the police and local security operatives composed of Amotekun, vigilante and hunters for their collaborative efforts towards ensuring that the issue of kidnapping becomes a thing of the past in the Eruwa.
Speaking on the issue of the Iganna crisis, Hon. Ogundoyin revealed that the Iganna crisis is no longer a kidnapping issue, saying that it has become a reprisal attack from suspected herders.
The Speaker assured the state government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde will continue to provide necessary support to the security agencies and local security outfits to make sure the rate of criminal and criminal activities is reduced in the zone.
He promised to continue to be a good ambassador of Ibarapaland not only in Oyo State but in Nigeria at large by setting a standard that anybody who wants to represent the zone in the state’s assembly will not go below.
Ogundoyin added that he will collaborate with Ibarapa East Local Government Chairman to provide a befitting office for the Police Area Commander to be able to discharge his duties accordingly.
He solicited for more collaboration among the police, Amotekun, vigilante and local hunters across the zone to ensure safety of the people and economic development of Ibrapaland.
Presenting his remarks, the Police Area Commander, Eruwa, ACP Peter Ugochukwu, stated that the purpose of security is to have peace which will allow people to go about their normal business and bring development in return to the country, state or town.
He disclosed that the issue of security is no longer a business of the police alone, noting that the more the population of people keep increasing the higher the responsibility of security.
ACP Ugochukwu called on the people in Ibarapa to join hands with the police by giving them timely and useful information that will assist them to discharge their duties accordingly.
The Chairman, Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Obalowo, in his opening remarks, commended the Speaker for the gesture towards protecting the lives and property of the people not only Ibarapa East, but also in Ibarapa North and Central Local Governments.
He noted that the provision of motorcycles will help in the movement of the police and the local security teams to comb every nook and cranny of the bush, penetrate the hideouts, apprehend the criminals and, as well improve the security situation of Ibarapaland.
In their separate remarks, some of the traditional rulers in attendance, the representative of Onilala of Lanlate, Chief Ganiyu Ojebola, Odofin of New Eruwa, Chief Laoye Fasina and Chairman, Eruwa Council of Elders, praised the Speaker, Hon. Ogundoyin for his effort towards ensuring a peaceful environment.
While expressing that collaboration among all stakeholders is yielding positive results, he assured that the police, local security operatives and every stakeholder will continue to synergize to promote security in the zone.
