Oyo Ministry Culture, Police Form Partnership Ahead Of Festive Season

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Police Command and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are strengthening their partnership to ensure safety and stability, particularly as the state anticipates a bustling festive season and a surge in tourism.

‎The move comes after the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatnbosun, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna recently.

‎The engagement highlighted the crucial role of security in fostering a favourable environment for social and economic growth, especially within Oyo State’s expanding entertainment and tourism sectors.

‎Dr. Olatunbosun expressed his profound gratitude for the Police Command’s steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and stability, noting that these efforts are key to positioning Oyo State as a premier destination.

‎He stressed that forthcoming events, including the Ember Month celebrations and a series of programmes scheduled for the upcoming year, are expected to draw tourists, leading to increased occupancy in hotels, lounges, and clubs, and driving significant economic turnover through sightseeing and other activities.

‎In light of the anticipated increase in activity, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism underscored the necessity for strengthened collaboration between his ministry and the police command.

‎While responding, CP Femi Haruna assured the Commissioner of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the relative calm across the state.

‎He emphasised the significance of the partnership between law enforcement and cultural institutions, pledging to enhance collaboration with the Ministry to guarantee robust safety and security throughout the bustling festive season.

‎This joint initiative is designed to not only endorse safety but also to maximise the potential of the culture and tourism sector as a vital catalyst for economic advancement in Oyo State.

‎The meeting was attended by a delegation of senior officials, including CP Femi Haruna, Hon. Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Agboola,  GM, Council of Arts and Culture, Belumi Agboola, DCPs Abiodun Onuoha, James Ekanem, ACP Martins Bamigboye and all management team of culture and tourism family.
