World Twins Festival Begins As Oyo Government Rolls Out Activities

Oyo State Government has rolled out activities for the 2024 World Twins Festival in Igbo-Ora.

The 6-day annual global festival will commence on 7th and ends on 12th of October, 2024.

The celebration of culture and multiple births event is organized by Ibarapa Central Local Government in conjunction with the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to Hon. Olusola Adeleke, who is the Chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, said the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde is expected to attend the grand finale of the festival scheduled for Methodist Grammar School Playing Ground, Saganun, Igbo-Ora, Oyo State.

He said this is to affirm Governor Makinde administration’s commitment to promotion of culture and tourism in the state.

The council boss noted that the annual festival has become a unique cultural event, honouring community with highest multiple birth rate in the world.

Hon. Adeleke said the festival did not only showcase the premium place of culture and tradition by Oyo government but value uniqueness of Igbo-Ora community in the state.

He indicated that the Committee for 2024 World Twins Festival has named a member of House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin as the Chairman of the occasion.

‘’The World Twins Festival 2024 will be an exciting blend of cultural performances, educational programs, and community engagements. This year’s festival promises to uphold the rich heritage of Igbo-Ora and continue to place the town on the global map as the ‘Twins Capital of the World’.”

Hon. Adeleke stated that the 2024 edition is expected to attract several dignitaries and tourists across the globe. Members of the Oyo State Executive Council and other political functionaries in the state are expected to attend the festival while Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle will be the royal father of the day. Adeleke added.

While describing what qualifies Hon. Agboworin as the Chairman of this year’s edition of Igboora Twins Festival, Hon. Adeleke, said the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs has been recognized for his leadership and dedication to public service, making him an ideal candidate to oversee the prestigious festival.

Adeleke said Agboworin’s contributions to development of his constituency is remarkable.

“Hon. Agboworin has championed numerous developmental projects, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and youth empowerment. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering community growth and ensuring that his constituents benefit from critical government initiatives,” Adeleke said.
