Olympics: Tinubu Charges D’Tigress Ahead Of USA Q4 Match

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the D’Tigress for being the first African nation to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympics.

The Nigerian ladies claimed a 79-70 victory over Canada at the Paris Olympic Games, qualifying for the quarter-final, where they will play with the United State of America.

This was followed hours after the feat, Tinubu said the victory reflects the team’s hard work and determination.

The charge was contained in a statement by the President spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale on Monday.

“President Bola Tinubu warmly congratulates Nigeria’s D’Tigress on qualifying for the quarter-final of the women’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“The President commends the team for their uncommon demonstration of resilience, teamwork, and diligence,” he said.

Tinubu also commended the coach and managers for their ‘dutifulness and dedication’.

“The President enjoins the brave Tigress not to rest on their oars until the final victory is won. President Tinubu assures the team and the entire Nigerian contingent at the 2024 Olympics of his support as they fly the nation’s flag at the global sports event.”
