The Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Hon. Taoheed Jimoh Adegdigba has presented working equipment to all security Agencies within the council Area.

The beneficiary security agencies include Nigeria Army 2 Mechanised Division, Odogbo Oojo, Nigeria Police Force, Akinyele, Moniya, Igbooloyin, Ikereku, Oojo, Department of State Security (DSS) Moniya, Civil Defence Corps, Igbooloyin, Moniya, Oojo Kajorepo and Nigeria Correctional Service.

Others are Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Nigeria Customs Services, Immigration, Vigilante, Soludero and Amotekun Corp.

The gesture is to acknowledge their effectiveness in ensuring that lives and properties of citizens were adequately protected.

Presented working equipment are motorcycles, Motorolla walking-talking (10 kilometer radius), Laptops, printers, generators and financial aid to ensure effective war against crime.

Presenting the items, the Council Chairman, Hon. Taoreed Adedigba, revealed that one of the sole responsibilities of any elected officer is to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties of the electorates.

He noted that it is the responsibility of elected officers to see that communities within his jurisdiction are free from any criminal act which in turn creates atmosphere for economic growth.

Hon. Adedigba reiterated the harmonious relationships between the security agencies and the local government, hence the reason to celebrate their professionalism and tireless effort in curbing the crime and forestall peaceful and safe environment where citizens can be rest assured that they are well protected.

The Chairman stressed that, since living in peace is one of the cardinal agenda of the pace-setter state under the leadership of Governor Seyi Abiodun Makinde, the Council has also leveraged on it to make Akinyele Local Government a no go area for criminals.

While assuring that the Council will continue to work very hard to curb any form of unrest within the villages and communities under his watch, acknowledged that rate of crime particularly among youths at the grassroots is very alarming.

Hon. Adedigba urged all the security agencies not to relent in their efforts in providing adequate security to protect the people and their properties.

He, as well, assured them of government’s support in providing them necessary equipments to discharge their duties effectively.

The Chairman said that the gesture is the first phase, saying that he will soon embark on the second phase.

Adedigba also urged the citizens to be watchdog of their various communities by reporting any suspected persons or forms of crime within their environment.

“if you see something, say something”.

Hon Taoheed Jimoh Adedigba, therefore, appreciated Governor Seyi Abiodun Makinde for the privilege and opportunity given to him to serve his people in this capacity and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matter, Hon. Segun Olayiwola for the time-to-time support of the progress of the Akinyele Local Government.

While responding to the good gesture of the Chairman, the DPO Akinyele, Division, appreciated the support received and assured citizens of better communities policing.

In attendance are the leader of the house, Hon. Femi Adeleke, Councilors, Supers, Special Assistants and Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Dele Busari.
