Assembly Sets To Rename First Technical University, Ibadan After Ajimobi

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has begun a move to rename the First Technical University, Ibadan after the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

This was reflected in a letter forwarded to the state House of Assembly by Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday.

The letter was read at plenary by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

The governor is seeking the attention of the state House of Assembly to repeal the law establishing the institution to reflect the recent change in the name of the University by Governor Seyi Makinde to Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan.

The letter reads “This administration has observed the need to repeal the First Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State Law, 2021 and enact a new law to reflect the University’s well deserved renaming from First Technical University, Ibadan to Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan. This is also to ensure its governance structures are in line with other State owned Institutions.”

It will be recalled that the First Technical University, Ibadan was established by late Governor Abiola Ajimobi in 2017.
