The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has paraded seven suspected rapists and human traffickers.
This is in a bid to curb the molestation of female child in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The suspects were apprehended in the offences bordering on child defilement, harmful traditional practices, human trafficking at different locations in the state.
The State Commandant, Augustine Padonu disclosed this on Wednesday at the command headquarters.
Suspects, Osuolale Ayodele aged (53), a native of Osun state, and resident of Olunloyo area, Ibadan, was arrested for raping a (13) year old minor on January 26th, 2024, while John Umeh, aged (64), a native of Abia State and resident of Monaghan area, Ibadan, also arrested for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter since when she was seven (7) years old until she turned (16) years.
Eyeke Chimechie, aged (45), a native of Ebonyi State and resident of Bestway area, Ibadan arrested for impregnating a 17 years old girl and subjecting her to domestic violence.
Also Mutiu Alabi aged (45) years old, a native of Ibadan and Adedoja Lukman, (72) years old, a native of Kobomoje Compound, Ibadan were arrested for engaging in harmful traditional practices including genital mutilation.
Meanwhile, Tomiwa Olusegun, aged (35), an indigene of Ile Ajiroba Isale,Oyo, Oyo State, and Eritobiloba Rasidi, aged (49), a native of Ibadan, Idi Omo Compound were arrested on February 22nd 2024, at Ojoo Motor Park while attempting to traffic four girls to Libya.
Commandant Augustine Padonu further stated that the suspects are currently undergoing investigation and they would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
He stated that the NSCDC Oyo State Command will continue to work tirelessly to combat human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and children.
