The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State Council, has condemned the recent bandit attack and abduction incident in Orrire Local Government area in Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State.
In a statement signed by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins, described the incident as a disturbing and reprehensible act, saying that the incident is not only a criminal attack on innocent citizens but also a grave assault on the peace, educational stability, and socio-economic wellbeing of thedear state.
While extending the Council heartfelt sympathies to the good people of Ogbomoso, the Government and citizens of Oyo State, and particularly the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) over this unfortunate incident, he expressed sadness over the trauma, fear, and hardship inflicted on the affected families, schools, and communities.
”This deeply disturbing and reprehensible act is not only a criminal attack on innocent citizens but also a grave assault on the peace, educational stability, and socio-economic wellbeing of our dear State. The Council expresses profound sadness over the trauma, fear, and hardship inflicted on the affected families, schools, and communities.
”The NLC Oyo State Council extends its heartfelt sympathies to the good people of Ogbomoso, the Government and citizens of Oyo State, and particularly the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) over this unfortunate incident involving educators, pupils, and other innocent residents. We stand in full solidarity with the leadership and members of the NUT during this difficult time and pray for strength, comfort, and healing for all affected families.”
Comrade Martins called on the government and the security agencies to intensify efforts on intelligence gathering and coordinated operations to secure the immediate and safe release of all victims.
”We also express our firm support for the Oyo State Government and all relevant security agencies in their ongoing efforts to restore peace, rescue the abducted victims, and ensure the swift apprehension of those responsible for this heinous act. We call for intensified intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations to secure the immediate and safe release of all victims.
”Furthermore, we urge the security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of this barbaric act are thoroughly investigated, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law, to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements.”
Expressing the readiness of the Council to support genuine effort aimed at protecting lives and property across the State, Comrade Kayode Martins charged Oyo State government to give priority to the safety and security of workers, teachers, students, and all residents in the state.
