The Wife of the Speaker of the Oyo Assembly, Mrs. Olamidun Ogundoyin, has sing-praised the women in the state for their leadership, governance, and community-building efforts.
The women sensitization event was themed “Give to Gain”. It was held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Buildings, Secretariat, Ibadan on Thursday.
Mrs. Ogundoyin, who gave the praise during the commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day, organized by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), encouraged them to continue mentoring, collaborating, and creating opportunities for others.
The Wife of the Speaker was represented at the programme by Mrs. Rebecca Oparinde. She emphasized the need for women to give wisely, intentionally, and to prioritize self-care.
Ogundoyin charged them to build a network of support and empowerment in order to build a brighter future for Oyo State and Nigeria.
The Clerk of the House, Barrister Taiwo Muraina-Akinola, highlighted the importance of generosity, collaboration, and support for women’s empowerment, and charged women to make themselves relevant beyond kitchen roles.
Contributing, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, called on people to complement Oyo State government’s efforts in supporting and uplifting women and vulnerable groups to build a stronger society.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Chairman of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Alade Taofeek, expressed the significance of collective effort in addressing women’s causes, urging stakeholders to support women through education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for sustainable development.
He reaffirmed PASAN’s readiness to support policies promoting gender equality within the parliamentary system.
Delivering her lecture, Dr. Edith Rahaman emphasized the importance of self-care and mutual support among women, encouraging them to invest in themselves, support girl children, and uplift their communities.
Other stakeholders who attended the programme, including lawmakers and PASAN national leaders, expressed the unwavering commitment of women to their families and duties, despite the challenges they face.
They equipped women with the importance of women supporting and uplifting each other, especially in times of economic pressure and rising responsibilities.
