Hours After Proposed Revocation Of NSCDC Act, Agency Withdrawals Personnel Attached To Shina Peller

Barely 24 hours a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Shina Peller presented a bill on the floor of the House proposing scrapping of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) Amendment Act 2007, the security agency has withdrawn all its personnel attached to the lawmaker.

The agency in a letter titled “Withdrawal of Personnel ” and dated 2nd February, 2022, indicated that the order to withdraw the personnel attached to the lawmaker was from the Commandant General of the security agency, citing urgent national security assignment as reason.

The letter reads: “Following the directive of the Commandant General on the necessity of the deployment of the command personnel for an urgent national security assignment.

“On behalf of the State Commandant, I hereby withdraw all the personnel attached to you, this is to meet up with the urgent National need.

Any inconveniences this might cause is highly regretted.”

The letter with reference number NSCDC/OY/173/VOL.III/196 was signed by HOD Administration, DCC Sotiyo Igbalawole E.

Hon. Shina Peller, who is representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Shina Peller had on Tuesday proposed a bill to revoke the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps  ( NSCDC) Amendment Act 2007, and transfer the assets and personnel of the corps to the Nigeria Police Force.

Peller’s proposed Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (Repeal and Transition) Bill 2022, which scaled through first reading on Tuesday, also seeks for an establishment of a transition management committee to superintend over the NSCDC, develop regulations and implement procedures for the transfer of its assets and personnel to the Nigeria Police Force.
