Olubadan Was A Committed Religious Man Despite His Position As Traditional Ruler – Hassan Giwa

The death of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 has been described as a blow to the indigenes and residents of Ibadan particularly to the religious communities.

The founder and Chairman of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Giwa, in his condolences message to the family of the late monarch, the Olubadan-in-Council and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) and the entire sons and daughters of Ibadan, described Oba Adetunji as a committed religious man.

Giwa disclosed that the tenure of the late monarch was peaceful especially when the religious matter came into question in Ibadanland.

“Oba Adetunji was a committed religious man. His reign was peaceful and promoted religious harmony among various religious groups, be it Christian, Muslim or traditional religion worshipper. He is a core and committed Muslim despite his position as traditional ruler.”

He said that the late Olubadan will be missed for his Godly characters, philanthropic gesture and dedication to humanity.

“I believe what people will miss most about the late monarch was his Godly characters, baba is peaceful, tolerant and accommodated. Another thing people will miss about him was his philanthropic gesture and his dedication to the service to humanity.”

Giwa, therefore, prayed for the soul of the late Olubadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 to continue to rest in peace.

He also prayed to God to give the family, Olubadan-in-Council, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes as well as sons and daughters of Ibadanland fortitude to bear the loss.
