Makinde’s N50 Billion Supplementary Budget Passed By Oyo Assembly

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the 50 billion naira supplementary budget forwarded to it by the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde into law.

This was followed after the bill had passed through the first and second readings on Tuesday’s plenary and Adhoc Committee on Public Account and Appropriation headed by Hon. Akeem Mustapha presented the report of further consideration before the House.

The bill after the clause-by-clause consideration at the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the House unanimously passed the bill into law.

Speaking with House correspondents shortly after the plenary, the chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Hon. Akeem Mustapha, said that the budget was for infrastructural development of the state. Governor Seyi Makinde had on Tuesday forwarded a supplementary Budget of 50 billion naira to the state’s Assembly, he sought for the consideration and passage of the bill which he said is meant for three capital projects not captured in the 2021 budget.

The three projects according to the Governor Seyi Makinde include Ibadan Circular Road (N25,000,000,000.00), Iseyin-Ogbomoso Road (M15,000,000,000.00) and Ibadan Airport Improvement (N10,000,000,000.00).

The governor explained that the fund will be provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria under the Differentiated Cash Reserves Requirements (DCRR) of which one hundred billion naira was approved by the state’s House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, the house had earlier screened and subsequently approved the appointment of Mr. David Okedeji as the Chairman, Oyo State Audit Service Commission.

Mr. Okedeji who hailed from Oyo town thanked Governor Makinde for the appointment and promised to discharge his duties for the development of the state.

Mr. Okedeji said that the establishment of the Oyo State Audit Service Commission was long overdue considering its importance to the smooth running of governance.
