The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) Mrs. Yewande Sadiku, has been facing interrogation over alleged abuse of office by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The questioning which lasted about nine hours was based on alleged abuse of office, bordering largely on suspicious award of contracts.

The source at the commission noted that the NIPC boss volunteered a statement to a team of operatives. The source, however, said there were still many grounds to be covered.

According to the source, “NIPC CEO, Mrs. Yewande Sadiku is currently in the custody of the EFCC.

“The technocrat, who arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency at about 11am on Monday, was grilled by a team of operatives of the commission over wide- ranging allegations.

“The NIPC boss is being questioned for abuse of office, bordering largely on issues over contract running into several millions of Naira and a posse of unearned frivolous allowances.

“As of the time of filing this report, she has spent over nine hours with her interrogators.

“She is cooperating and has volunteered, but there are still a lot of grounds to be covered.”
