Anambra Gov’ship Election: APGA Chairman Reacts As Soludo, Ozigbo Names Missing On INEC List

The name of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and factional candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 6th, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has been dropped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC, rather, confirmed the federal lawmaker representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Chukwuma Umeoji as the authentic candidate of APGA for the election.

The Commission also confirmed Barr Jude Okeke as the authentic National Chairman of APGA.

Also missing on the list is the name of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, which its section on the list was left blank, without name of any candidate.

Although, PDP held its gubernatorial primary on the 26th of June, which produced Valentine Ozigbo has its candidate.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Oye has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately publish the name of the party candidate, Charles Soludo, citing section 31 subsections 3 of the Electoral Act.

APGA chairman, reacting to the names of candidates published by INEC, and the name of its candidate Charles Soludo was not cleared by the electoral umpire.

The party insisted that failure of INEC, to publish the details of the name of its candidate for the Anambra governorship election, is a ploy to allow the Commission to comply with a Jigawa State High Court judgment which the party has appealed against.

Mr. Oye alleged that INEC failed to publish the name of their candidate since 9th of July, after duly Acknowledging receipt of the details of the party’s candidate sent to the commission on 2nd of July 2021.
