The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, has called for the continuous exhibition of Ramadan teachings even after the fasting period.

They made the call during the annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the Oyo State House of Assembly Muslim Community, held at the Western Hall, Parliament Buildings, on Wednesday. The lecture was tagged “Justice, Equity and Protection of Human Dignity in Islam.”

Hon. Fadeyi, in his opening remarks, said the beauty of Ramadan for Muslim faithful is that it provides an opportunity to listen to lectures concentrating on the significance of Islam as a religion.

He disclosed that Islam is a practical religion, emphasizing that the teachings should not be limited to the holy month of Ramadan, but rather practiced throughout the year.

Prof. Babatunde said Ramadan positions the Muslim ummah closer to Allah, adding that such closeness should not be limited to Ramadan alone.

‎He called for the continued exhibition of Ramadan doctrines and principles, admonishing strict observance of all the pillars of Islam, including solat and zakat.

‎Chief Imam Alhaji Mudashir Atanda Bada, in his lecture, called for respect for human dignity by rulers and subjects, saying most Muslim ummah have digressed from the way of Allah.

‎He advised Oyo State House of Assembly staff to seek more academic knowledge and make use of every opportunity to add value to their existence.

Imam Bada identified humility, integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and fear of God as traits a good leader must possess to uphold justice and equity.

The lecture was highlighted by the presentation of cash gifts to four retired members and recitation from the Holy Quran.

‎The lecture was attended by some House of Assembly members including Hon. Dahud Olalere, Hon. Rasaq Mabaje, Hon. Rilwan Saminu, Commissioner from the Oyo House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Hon. Adekunle Alabanla and Clerk of House, Mrs. Muraina Taiwo-Akinola
