The Oyo APC Rift has prompted renewed calls for reconciliation and unity as members of the party prepare for the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Ibadan, Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe engaged APC members and support groups on the need to close ranks and work together ahead of the polls.
Oyo APC Rift: Tegbe Calls for Resolution
Mogaji Tegbe commended the Oyo APC Reconciliation Committee, led by Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, for its efforts to address grievances arising from the party’s candidate selection processes.
He also pledged to reach out to aspirants who remain dissatisfied with the outcome of the processes.
The reconciliation committee was established to address grievances among party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
At the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the Minister of Power met with the State Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and members of the State Executive Committee.
He urged the leadership to ensure that different interests within the party were carried along as efforts continued to resolve internal disagreements.
The call comes as the Oyo APC has been undertaking reconciliation efforts involving aspirants and stakeholders following its primary elections.
At the Tinubu Support Group Secretariat in Yemetu, Mogaji Tegbe addressed supporters and emphasised the importance of unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
He argued that the party should focus on the record of the Bola Tinubu administration and its reforms as part of its message to voters.
Mogaji Tegbe specifically cited developments in the power sector, saying generation and transmission had risen above 5,300MW in recent weeks.
The Minister of Power said the party needed to approach the 2027 elections as a united organisation despite disagreements that followed its candidate selection processes.
He said reconciliation with aggrieved aspirants and other stakeholders would be important to the party’s preparations.
Recent reports indicate that Oyo APC has made efforts to reconcile aggrieved aspirants, with several members agreeing to work with the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
