“We are happy to capture our legislative priorities and goals in one document. This is the direction the House intends to take to achieve its set goals. It will assist us to take our legislative assignments serious.”

On the activities of the House in the last one year, Hon. Ogundoyin said that the lawmakers in the 10th Assembly have been working in line with the pledged made on their inauguration to strive for excellence, good governance and socio-economic upliftment of the state through enactment of people oriented laws and passage of resolutions and motions among other constitutionally assigned responsibilities.

He emphasized that the present House of Assembly in the state has enacted laws that aided the implementation of the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER Programme) Agenda of the present Administration.

The Speaker disclosed that the 10th House of Assembly within one year has passed 16 bills into laws, sponsored and moved 68 motions and presented 35 reports on various oversight functions by the House Standing Committees.

“Distinguished colleagues and our esteemed guests, everything seems like yesterday when both the new and re-elected members of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly gathered in this hallowed chamber with a pledge to strive for excellence, good governance and socio-economic upliftment of our state through enactment of people oriented laws and passage of resolutions and motions among other constitutionally assigned responsibilities.

“It is worthy of note that since then, we have not only worked tirelessly to review and pass important legislations, debated ethical issues, and represented our constituents with dedication and pride, we have also remained united and cohesive under the Omi Tuntun 2.0 agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.

“I want to use this medium to commend my fellow legislators for their high level of commitment and patriotism to the welfare of the good people of Oyo State coupled with our strong collaboration with the Executive Arm of Government in its quest to transform and re-engineer the state

“It has no doubt been 12 months of steady progress. First, the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly enacted laws that aided the implementation of the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER Programme) Agenda of the present Administration and the program is already on course.

“It gladdens my heart to state that this Assembly within one year had been able to pass sixteen (16) bills into laws while four (4) others are presently at various stages of legislative processes, nine (9) out of these bills had been assented to by His Excellency. I am pleased to also announce that sixty-eight (68) motions had been sponsored and moved by us, and the Committees had presented thirty-five (35) reports on oversight functions and matters referred to the Committees at plenary sittings of the House.

“So far the House had passed One hundred and seventy (170) resolutions to the Executive Arm of Government and others for appropriate actions

“Let me state unequivocally that these outstanding records and achievements would not have been possible, if not for the unwavering support, collaboration and commitment of my dear colleagues. This commitment no doubt is in tandem with my acceptance speech during our inauguration where I promised that the 10th Assembly would work vehemently to surpass the achievements of the 9th Assembly

“And from the available records, the achievements of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly in its first year, has surpassed the achievements of the first legislative season of the 9th Assembly. Moving forward dear colleagues, I think we can do more with all sincerity of purpose and determination to lead the legislative business amongst State Legislatures in Nigeria.

“I will like to assure you that the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly Assembly is poised for greater services to the people of our state in the remaining three years. As a legislature, we shall not rest on our oars in ensuring that the dividends of democracy are delivered to the people of our dear Pace-Setting State.

“Let me at this juncture state that whatever feat we have accomplished, whatever achievement we have recorded within one year is not without the unflinching support and cooperation of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, who is taking good governance to a higher level of quality, impact and effectiveness.

“The Governor has always been very supportive of the state Legislature especially through provisions of required resources, enabling environment and non interference in our legislative activitie

“I will not end this address without appreciating the Clerk, management and staff of the House of Assembly and House of Assembly Service Commission who have been loyal and diligent in their work. You have been reliable, dependable and responsible to us. I say a very big thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I sincerely appreciate all of you for your positive disposition, commitment and professionalism displayed at all times in the discharge of your legislative duties.”
