Super Falcons Head Coach, Justine Madugu, has released a squad list of 25 players for the 14th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) holding this year in Morocco.
The squad is led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and forwards Asisat Oshoala, Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Omorinsola Babajide.
The WAFCON 2026 edition will hold between July 26 and August 16, 2026.
The squad also features home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko, defenders Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Christy Ucheibe, and midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne.
Cup-holders Nigeria, gunning for a record-extending 11th title, have been drawn against Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi in Group C, with matches to be played in Morocco’s administrative capital, Rabat.
The Super Falcons will begin their title defence against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, at the Al Madina Stadium, before facing Zambia on Saturday, August 1, at the same venue, and rounding off the group stage against Egypt on Wednesday, August 5, at the Olympic Stadium.
All four teams that reach the semi-finals of the tournament, which will feature 16 teams for the first time, will earn automatic spots at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil, while the fifth-placed team will proceed to an intercontinental play-off tournament.
The Super Falcons, ever-present at the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals since the inaugural edition in China 35 years ago, edged hosts Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2 in the final to secure their 10th continental title last summer.
The squad announcement comes ahead of the team’s departure for a week-long training camp in Mohammedia, Morocco, which opens on July 15 and will serve as the final opportunity for Madugu’s coaching crew to fine-tune tactics, build team chemistry and prepare the players physically before proceeding to Rabat.
