The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye has called on residents of the council area to eat healthy food and ensure hygienic environment to curb the spread of cholera outbreak.

Hon. Akinleye made the call during a sensitization and awareness campaign on prevention of cholera around the major markets and strategic places within the local government.

The Chairman stressed that the reason for the awareness campaign is to prevent the spread of the disease, noting that ‘prevention is better than cure.’

Akinwole said that it is essential to prevent it rather than spending huge resources on cure, if not resulting in death.

He said the cost of living is high and food prices are on the high side, so it is better to set machinery in place to stop the spread of it.
