Oke'Badan

‎Residents, traders and commercial operators in Adetokun Community, Ibadan, have expressed excitement following the flag-off of an industrial borehole project by the Chairman of Oke’Badan North Local Community Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Omotoso.

‎Omotoso performed the foundation-laying ceremony for the water project on Friday, describing it as part of his administration’s efforts to respond to the needs of residents and improve infrastructure across the LCDA.

‎The chairman commended the Adetokun Youth Association for drawing the attention of his administration to the community’s water challenge.

He said the project represented another step towards fulfilling his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life of residents and commercial operators in the area.

‎“It is another memorable day for me to fulfil the promise made by our administration in improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and commercial drivers of Adetokun community,” Omotoso said.

‎According to him, the completion of the motorised borehole will significantly address water scarcity in the community and reduce the risks faced by residents, particularly women, who currently cross the busy Iwo–Ologuneru Road while carrying water.

‎He noted that the road has witnessed crashes involving people attempting to fetch or transport water across it.

Omotoso Highlights Projects in Adetokun

The Oke’Badan North LCDA chairman disclosed that his administration had facilitated several social and economic interventions worth more than N200 million in Ward 11, where Adetokun is located.

Among the projects and interventions, he listed the construction of the Oba Ido concrete box culvert, rehabilitation of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) secretariat, provision of soft loans to groups of traders and an artisanal support scheme.

‎He said the projects were driven by demands from residents and were designed to promote human and social development within the community.

Chairman Seeks Support for APM

‎Omotoso, who is also the chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Ibadan North West Local Government in the forthcoming local government election, used the occasion to appeal to residents, shop owners and socio-political groups to continue supporting the APM administration.

‎He urged residents to support what he described as the development agenda of the APM at the grassroots.

‎The chairman also canvassed support for APM candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎He said the election of Bimbo Adekanmbi as governor would, in his view, ensure continuity in the development programmes of the present Oyo State Government.

‎Omotoso also called for support for Governor Seyi Makinde and expressed his political aspiration for Makinde at the national level, arguing that such a development would help address poverty.

‎His comments form part of the wider political mobilisation already taking place ahead of the 2027 elections.

‎Several community leaders and representatives attended the ceremony, including Aderemi Ajiboye, Chairman of Oluwawomi Community; Muritala Olapade, Chairman of Aafin Iyanu; Tajudeen Oladipo; Kazeem Alabi; Saheed Ishola; and Iyabo Adeyemo, Coordinator of the Adetokun Youth Forum.

‎The Secretary of the Adetokun Youth Forum was also present at the event.

The borehole project is expected to provide a more accessible source of water for residents and businesses in the community upon completion.
