The African Action Congress (AAC) has inaugurated its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate nationwide mobilisation for its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and his running mate, Haruna Magashi, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party announced the inauguration in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its Acting National Chairman, Samuel Ajeigbe, and National Secretary, Oshiokhue Phillip Ikpeminoghena.
According to the AAC, the inauguration marks a major step in its preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the council expected to coordinate campaign activities across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The council brings together political strategists, organisers, policy advocates, media professionals, digital campaigners, election specialists, legal practitioners and finance personnel to oversee the party’s campaign operations.
AAC Names Abdullahi Usman Director-General of 2027 Campaign Council
The AAC has appointed Abdullahi Usman as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, with deputies overseeing Strategy and Political Affairs, as well as Diaspora and Resource Mobilisation.
Juwon Sanyaolu will serve as the Campaign Council Secretary.
The party has also established 10 national directorates to manage key areas of the campaign, including strategy and policy, grassroots mobilisation, labour and civil society engagement, publicity and communications, digital media, data and technology, election operations, finance, legal and compliance, and administration and field operations.
At the grassroots level, the campaign structure will extend across states, local government areas, wards and polling units. It will be supported by volunteers, canvassers, polling agents and other campaign supporters.
SOWORENOW App to Support AAC Nationwide Mobilisation
The party said its mobilisation efforts had been significantly supported by the SOWORENOW application, a digital platform it uses to organise supporters and coordinate campaign activities.
The AAC stressed that the newly inaugurated Presidential Campaign Council was not intended to replace its existing digital mobilisation infrastructure but to expand and strengthen it.
“The Presidential Campaign Council is not a replacement for this digital mobilisation infrastructure; rather, it is designed to upscale, deepen and expand it,” the statement said.
According to the party, combining digital technology with physical grassroots organisation would help extend the Sowore–Magashi campaign’s reach and improve coordination across communities.
“The Council will combine the power of technology with physical grassroots organisation, political coordination and community-level mobilisation to ensure that the Sowore–Magashi campaign reaches Nigerians in every part of the country,” it added.
The AAC said it planned to take its campaign message beyond major cities and state capitals to rural communities and polling units as part of its preparations for the 2027 election.
AAC Outlines Message Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election
The party said its campaign would focus on reaching voters directly and presenting its position on the country’s political direction.
“The 2027 election is not merely about changing the occupant of Aso Rock; it is about changing the political direction of Nigeria,” the statement said.
The AAC also argued that the existing political order had failed Nigerians, adding that its campaign would take its message to communities across the country.
“As the old political order continues to fail Nigerians, the AAC is taking its message directly to the people, from the cities to the rural communities, from state capitals to the polling units,” the statement read.
The party described the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council as the beginning of intensified nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
It called on Nigerians who support a different political direction to participate in its campaign.
“We call on Nigerians who believe that Nigeria can and must be different to join us,” the statement said.
“The task of taking back our country cannot be left to politicians alone; it requires the active participation of the People,” it added.
With the council now inaugurated, the AAC says it intends to strengthen its campaign coordination, expand its grassroots network and combine digital mobilisation with community-level engagement ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
