Breaking: PDP’s Diri Wins Second Term In Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Governor-elect, Douye Diri

The incumbent governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri has secured the second term after emerging the winner in the November 11 governorship election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the announcement 48 hours after the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate got a total of 175,196 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva, who polled 110,108 votes.

The Labour Party (LP) scored a total of 905 votes to come a distant third.

Diri beat his closest rival, Sylva with a merging of 65,088 votes to clinch a second term in office as the leader of the coastal state.
