
The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the Oyo State Persons Living with Disability (Amendment) Bill, 2022 into Law.
The bill was passed after its report was presented by the Chairman of the Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Wumi Oladeji and clause by clause consideration by the Committee of the Whole House during the plenary on Thursday.
The bill, which was a private member bill sponsored by Hon. Oladeji and was passed into Law in 2016 during the 8th Assembly.
Speaking on the major areas amended by the House in Law, the lawmaker, who is representing Ogbomoso North state constituency, said that the Law has made provision for the establishment of an agency for the persons living with disability, adding that the agency will be be under the supervision of the state governor.
Hon. Oladeji said further that the Law has provided for recruitment of 50 percent of the members of staff agency to be persons living with disability.
Also included in the law according to the lawmaker, is the reservation of special parking lots and spaces inside the bus and public transport for the people living with disability in order to make life easy for them.
