Students Urged To Inculcate Writing Habit

The pupils and students in both public and private schools have been enjoined to imbibe the culture of writing essays and prose in order to excel in their studies.

The advice was given at the essay writing competition amongst the primary and secondary schools across the state. It is a part of the activities lined- up for the commemoration of the year 2022 Independence Day celebration.

The essay was set-up by the state government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Science and Technology tagged “STRENGTH IN UNITY” held at the conference room of the Ministry of Education.

The selected primary and secondary zones were Ibadan zone 2, Ibadan zone 3, Oyo, Kajola, Ogbomosho zone 1 and Saki.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Dr Mrs. Mercy Popoola, appreciated the students for their outstanding performances and their teachers for taking time to mould them to become a success.

She, therefore, enjoined the students to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship in the competition and accept whatever position they obtain in good faith.

Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs. Oyerinde Filicia representing the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Science and Technology charged the students to display all that have been impacted on them during the competition.

She also appreciated the students for their tremendous development in this competition. The winner for primary school: the first position goes to Ibadan zone 2, second position Ibadan 1 while Ibadan zone 3 goes with the third position.

Secondary school winner: First position goes to Ibadan zone 2, Oyo zone comes second while the third position goes to Kajola.

However, the winners of the competition will be given prizes on the grand finale at Lekan Salami Sports Complex Adamashingba Ibadan by His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde.
