In line with his consultation programme to involve all relevant stakeholders on his aspiration to represent Lagelu/Akinyele Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives in the 2023 general election, Arc. (Dr.) Hassan Giwa has met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders across Lagelu Local Government.
Speaking at the meeting held on Wednesday, Arc Giwa, who is founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, said the meeting is to inform the leader of his aspiration and to secure their support in getting the ticket to represent the constituency.
He said he had declared in his ward because charity begins from home and has begun consultation from ward to ward to ensure that all party members and supporters are well informed.
While declaring his House of Representatives aspiration to the leaders, said that 2023 is the time to change the political narrative of Lagelu Local Government from politics of “as usual” to the politics of development.
Arc Giwa disclosed that he has paid his dues as a true and committed member of the party in every aspect to qualify him to fly the party ticket in the coming election.
He expressed that he has in the interest and unity of the party stepped down on several occasions for several people to contest and, in the same vein used his personal resources to support candidates to their victory at the polls without collecting any money for the mobilization from the party or individuals.
“As a true and committed member of the party, I have paid my dues either in cash or in cash. I have stepped down on several occasions in the interest and unity of the party. I believe it is the time to be given the chance and enjoy the support of all party leaders and members. The politics I want to introduce is the politics of development; now is time to change the political narrative of Lagelu Local Government from politics of “as usual”, where hooliganism and thuggery are the order of the day.
He appealed to the party leaders to give him the necessary support to represent them and the people of Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency, assuring them that he will not betray their trust and jeopardize the name he has been built over the years.
“My mission is to contribute my quota to the development of our constituency, to create a brighter tomorrow for our teeming youths, widows and aged people. I want to ensure there are job opportunities for our graduates, to provide assistance to the people in education, vocational training, agriculture, youths and women.”
Arc Giwa stated he has been doing these over 17 through his Hassan Olawale Giwa Foundation that countless number of people, youths, and students, among others have benefited.
While imploring all aspirants not to see politics as a do or die affair, he charged them to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner while carrying out their campaign.
He added he is not a desperate politician and that this is the reason he could not toil with his job.
“I have my job and I can’t toil with it, I am an architect with two masters and a professional doctorate award. I don’t see politics as do or die but an opportunity to serve the people. We can’t continue to do things the same way and expect different results, and that is why professionals like me have to join politics to change Nigeria’s political narrative together,” Arc Giwa said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the APC in Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Fatai Awoyoola, assured that there is going to be a level playing ground for all aspirants aspiring for different political offices.
Hon. Awoyoola debunked the rumour that the party has picked a particular aspirant as candidate, adding that all of the aspirants will go for screening and necessary process before a candidate can emerge.
