Ibadan group of elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reiterated their choice in Alhaji Abubakar Adejare Gbadamosi as the State Chairman of the party.

The assembly of leaders across the eleven local government areas of the state capital made the pronouncement on Wednesday at an all inclusive press conference.

At the briefing which attracted teeming party stalwarts across the inner and outer city, the leaders condemned the imposition of Hon. Isaac Omodewu as the state Chairman, stating that there was no process that certified his emergence as validated by the National Caretaker Committee of the party.

According to the Chairman of the parley, Chief Kunle Sanda, the harmonized list submitted to the national secretariat of the party as approved by the zonal leaders had Alhaji Abubakar Gbadamosi as the Chairman alongside other officers for the elective posts in the State Executives Council of the party.

The stakeholders enjoined the National Caretaker Committee of the party to take to the apology tendered in denying the purported state congress which was held on October 30th, 2021 by a group of regressive elements in the party at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan and ratify the choice of Alhaji Abubakar Gbadamosi as the State Chairman.“The return of Isaac Omodewu is the climax of a reign of impunity which a tiny and minority section of the party in the state in collaboration with external forces had sought to impose on the party ahead of 2023 general elections.

“What we are witnessing is a temporary distraction that would test our resilience towards democratic principles and the rule of laws.

According to the press statement released after the meeting, “we have resolved to use every legal mean to reclaim the mandate given to Abubakar Adejare Gbadamosi led Executive and inaugurate a party leadership that represents the popular wish of the majority members of the party in the State,”the statement reads.
