
A former Military Administrator of Oyo State, Colonel Ahmed Usman has been announced dead.
Sources within the family confirmed to Tribune Online. Usman, former Ondo and Oyo States military administrator died at the age of 69 years.
He died around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, after a brief illness.
It was gathered that his remains are being moved to his village, Okura-Lafia, Kogi State, for burial according to Muslim rites today.
Usman was military administrator of Ondo State from August 1994 to August 1996 and that of Oyo State from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
Ahmed Usman was born on August 20, 1951. He was posted to 192 Battalion in Abak as Second in Command and 141 Battalion in Kano between 1983 and 1985 respectively.
He was among United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon between 1985 and 1986 and Battalion Commander G Amphibious, Elele, Port Harcourt between 1990 and 1991.
