The Oyo State Budget Commissioner has resigned from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, alongside the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, in a development that leaves two key positions in the state ministry vacant.
The outgoing officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke.
Both officials submitted separate resignation letters dated November 2, 2026, formally announcing their departure from the Oyo State Government.
According to their letters, the resignations take effect from November 2, 2026.
Oyo State Budget Commissioner Ayobami Ojo Resigns
In his resignation letter addressed through the Secretary to the State Government at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Hon. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo confirmed his decision to step down from his position as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
Ojo referenced his initial appointment letter dated June 22, 2026, while stating that his resignation would take immediate effect from November 2, 2026.
The outgoing commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration and contribute to the development of Oyo State.
He described his time in government as an honour and thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour that I do not take lightly,” Ojo stated in his letter.
Makinde’s Special Adviser Simeon Oyeleke Also Resigns
Similarly, Hon. Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke has resigned from his position as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning.
Oyeleke submitted his resignation through the Office of the Chief of Staff, Governor’s Office, Ibadan.
In his letter, he expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the administration’s policies, programmes and developmental agenda.
The former special adviser said he appreciated the trust placed in him throughout his tenure.
“It has been an honour to contribute in my own little way to the administration’s vision, policies, and developmental programmes for the good people of Oyo State,” he stated.
Oyeleke also reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, progress and development of Oyo State despite his decision to leave the administration.
Impact of Oyo Budget Commissioner Resignation on the Ministry
The resignation of the Oyo Budget Commissioner and the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning leaves two important leadership positions vacant within the state’s fiscal planning structure.
The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning plays a strategic role in the preparation, coordination and implementation of government budgetary priorities and development plans.
The departure of the two officials may therefore require the state government to make new appointments or assign responsibilities to other officials to ensure continuity in the ministry’s operations.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had yet to issue an official statement announcing replacements or temporary arrangements for overseeing the ministry.
