President Bola Tinubu Returns to Nigeria after ending his working vacation in Paris, France, with the President expected to arrive in Lagos later on Tuesday.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development on Tuesday.
President Tinubu’s aircraft is expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later in the evening.
Tinubu Returns to Lagos for Independence Day Events
Tinubu Returns to Lagos as part of plans to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, widely associated with Nigeria’s June 12, 1993 presidential election.
On Independence Day, the President is scheduled to attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
The event is expected to form part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day.
Tinubu Returns to Nigeria with plans to hold meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos.
According to the statement, the meetings will focus on preparations for the 2027 elections.
The President is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
Tinubu Returns after spending several weeks abroad as part of his working vacation.
The President departed Abuja on August 30 and spent one week in London before travelling to Paris.
During his stay in Paris, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
The President also met with First Holdings Chairman, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
Tinubu Returns After Ogun Port Investment Deal
Before his departure from France, Tinubu Returns with attention also drawn to a major proposed investment in Ogun State.
The President recently witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside.
The proposed project also includes the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World, a global ports and logistics company, plans to invest $7 billion in the seaport and economic zone, according to the statement.
Following his planned political and public engagements in Lagos, Tinubu Returns to Abuja to resume official activities.
The Lagos visit will combine Independence Day engagements, the Abiola tribute and meetings with political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
