The lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly and aspirant for the 2027 General Elections, Hon. Akintunde Olajide, popularly known as AKT, has congratulated the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagelu Local Government Area on the selection of members of its Campaign Council.
Olajide described the composition of the council as a strategic move capable of strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and improving its mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming 2026 Local Government elections and the 2027 General Elections.
The lawmaker commended the APM leadership for, in his words, “putting the right pegs into the right holes” by appointing experienced and capable party members to key positions within the campaign structure.
AKT particularly praised the APM leadership in Lagelu for assembling what he described as a strong, grassroots-oriented team with the experience and capacity to mobilise support across the local government.
The Lagelu APM leadership, headed by Chief Oribayo Okeyode, recently unveiled the party’s Campaign Council as part of preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Under the new arrangement, former Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Jide Adeniran, will serve as Director-General of the Campaign Council, while former Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Lanre Lantinwo, will serve as Deputy Director-General.
The campaign structure has been divided into three strategic zones: Lagelu West, Lagelu Central and Lagelu North, in a move aimed at ensuring effective coverage and coordination across the local government area.
According to the party leadership, each zone will be coordinated by a Deputy Director-General and an Assistant Deputy Director-General, while dedicated Ward Coordinators will oversee campaign activities across the 14 wards in Lagelu.
The council also includes specialised committees responsible for key areas such as advisory oversight, finance, mobilisation, media and publicity, grassroots mobilisation, security and election management.
The women and youth wings of the party also form part of the campaign structure.
Reacting to the appointments, AKT congratulated all members of the Campaign Council and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute significantly to the party’s electoral success.
He said the experience, commitment and knowledge of the grassroots possessed by members of the council would be valuable to the APM as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
Olajide urged the appointees to work collectively and remain committed to the ideals of the party, stressing the importance of unity, effective mobilisation and sustained engagement with residents at the grassroots.
The composition of the council places Adeniran at the strategic helm of the APM campaign structure in Lagelu, with Lantinwo and other senior party members assigned important operational, electoral and mobilisation responsibilities.
The APM leadership had earlier congratulated the newly appointed members and charged them to work together towards securing victory for the party in the forthcoming Local Government elections and the 2027 General Elections.
