President Bola Tinubu rewards D’Tigress with the naira equivalent of $100,000 each following the Nigerian women’s basketball team’s historic victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that the cash reward was paid to each player of D’Tigress as part of the presidential package announced after their record-breaking triumph.
The commission also confirmed that each team official received the naira equivalent of $50,000.
According to the NSC, the accounts of the players and officials were credited on September 9, 2026, with all beneficiaries confirming receipt of the payments.
D’Tigress secured their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title and seventh overall championship in 2025, further cementing Nigeria’s dominance in women’s basketball on the continent.
The NSC said the latest payment completed all aspects of the rewards promised to members of the team by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The statement said players were entitled to the naira equivalent of $100,000 each, while officials received $50,000 each.
The NSC said the payment means the entire presidential reward package promised to the team has now been fulfilled.
The package comprised a three-bedroom flat in Abuja, the national honour of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON), and the cash reward.
“With the payment, the entire presidential rewards promised to each member of the team by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR comprising a 3-Bedroom flat in Abuja, national honours of OON and Naira equivalent of $USD 100,000 to players and $USD 50,000 to officials have been fully redeemed and completed,” the commission said.

They also received certificates confirming their national honours during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lyon, France.
According to the NSC, the documents were duly signed by President Tinubu.
